This tool runs in your browser. It does not save or send your inputs.
The bid is the price at which you can sell; the ask is the price at which you can buy. The difference is the spread. Sample prices above are illustrative, not live market quotes.
Your trade
Enter your broker's figures to estimate your costs.
A standard forex lot is commonly 100,000 units of the base currency. Contract sizes can vary by instrument and broker.
Keep the currency pair and lot size the same for a fair comparison. Enter the second account's spread and commission.
What it costs
Estimates update automatically when you change an input.
Price needs to move about 2.0 pips in your favor to cover the estimated spread and commission.

How this calculator works
1. Spread in pips: The ask minus the bid, divided by the pair's pip size. The pip size is usually 0.0001 for pairs without JPY and 0.01 for pairs with JPY.
2. Pip value: For a standard 100,000-unit lot, the pip value in the quote currency is the pip size multiplied by 100,000. It is then converted to USD using the conversion rate you enter. This is an estimate and does not account for broker contract differences.
3. Spread cost: Spread in pips × pip value per lot in USD × lot size.
4. Commission: Round-trip commission per standard lot × lot size.
5. Estimated break-even movement: Spread in pips plus commission divided by the pip value for your position. This estimates the price movement needed to cover these costs before other expenses.
6. Daily and monthly cost: Estimated cost per trade × trades per day × trading days. This assumes each entered trade incurs the spread and commission once, with commission covering both opening and closing.
What this calculator leaves out
- Overnight financing or swap charges.
- Slippage and execution differences.
- Deposit, withdrawal, inactivity, and conversion fees.
- Taxes and other broker-specific charges.
- Spreads that widen during news events or periods of low liquidity.
Actual costs depend on your broker, instrument, execution, position size, and market conditions. The conversion rate is manually entered and is not updated live.
